Stephen Dhieu Dau Ayik

A South Sudanese financial professional, career central banker and public servant, Stephen Dhieu Dau Ayik has served as Minister of Petroleum and Mining, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and later as Minister of Finance and Planning. A graduate of Cairo University and former central banker, he holds a Master’s degree in Banking Studies from Sudan University of Science and Technology. Throughout his career, he helped steer South Sudan through its defining economic reforms. Respected for his integrity and resolve, he writes not as a politician seeking praise, but as a public servant bearing witness to the birth—and the unfinished work—of his beloved nation.
